Las Vegas, Nevada – A robbery was reported at the iconic Caesars Palace casino on the Las Vegas Strip early Monday morning. According to a statement from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around midnight in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard.
The alleged robber, who has not been identified by police, reportedly told a cage worker at the casino that he had a gun, though no weapon was ever shown. A source familiar with the investigation told 8 News Now Investigators that the suspect did not brandish any weapon during the robbery.
The individual was apprehended by police sometime on Monday morning and is currently in custody. The Las Vegas police are investigating the incident and it is unclear at this time whether the robbery is connected to other unsolved casino-cage robberies that have occurred across the Las Vegas Valley in recent months.
As one of the most recognizable casinos in the world, Caesars Palace has played host to countless celebrities, high rollers, and tourists since its opening in 1966. The luxurious casino-resort features over 4,000 rooms, multiple pools, and numerous high-end restaurants and shopping options.
This robbery at Caesars Palace is not only a setback for the casino but also for the image of Las Vegas as a whole. The city, which is heavily dependent on tourism, has been hit hard by the ongoing pandemic and related restrictions, making it all the more imperative to maintain a sense of security for those visiting the city. The police authorities are yet to provide more details on the incident or if any losses were incurred during the robbery, and whether the person arrested is found guilty or not.
This incident serves as a reminder for casino-goers and all visitors to Las Vegas to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
